Montana Camping
With acres of wilderness area, wide open spaces, mountains
and valleys, rivers and streams, Montana has a plethora
of opportunities for camping and hiking. There are designated campsites
statewide, as well as overnight hunting,
fishing
and pack trips. All you need is your camping supplies and
you are ready for adventure. 
Lost Creek State Park in Anaconda has 25 sites for
tent and trailer camping. While there you canhike the trail
to see the 50 foot high Lost Creek Falls, view the limestone
cliffs with their granite formations that rise 1,200 feet
above the canyon and spot mountain goats, sheep, and other
area wildlife.
Flathead Lake State Park in Polson has 6 state park units surrounding the lake which offer tent and trailer camping. You can have fun in the sun while trout fishing, water skiing, swimming, boating and bird watching.
The Lewis and Clark Cavern State Park has a campground with shower facilities
as well as an RV dump station and rental cabins. While there
you can go hiking and explore the cave system.
At nearby Missouri Headwaters State Park you can
camp—sorry, no hook-ups—rent a tepee and make use of the
dump station. You can enjoy fishing, floating, hiking, and
viewing the interpretive displays. The Bob Marshall Wilderness
is one of America’s best known wilderness areas. The Wilderness
can only be reached by trail, but it is a phenomenal location
for camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, camping, horseback
riding and river floating.
At the Lodgepole Gallery and Tepee Village in Browning, you can rent a tepee and try your hand at camping with minimal amenities. Also on sight is a Native American art gallery, The Museum of the Plains Indians, and nearby Glacier National Park. The Bitterroot Family Campground in Hamilton has 23 tent sites and 26 RV sites along with river access, a trout pond and a playground. Nearby attractions are the Ravalli County Museum, the Daly Mansion and the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness.
The
Lolo Hot Springs Resort has 25 tent sites, 35 RV
sites and rental cabins. You can also visit the hot spring’s
pools or relax in the restaurant or saloon.

and Country Store (866-797-3505) in Butte. Additional fun
and relaxing can be found at Fairmount Hot Springs.
The West Fork Cabin Camp in Cameron is a great place for convenience to fly fishing in the Madison River and rafting. The site includes cabins, tent, and RV areas.
The 75 acre ranch at Silver Star’s Jefferson River Camp offers 12 tent sites, 13 RV sites and 4 cabins on the river.
In West Yellowstone you will find the Rock Mountain Campground near the North Entrance, the Rustic Wagon RV Campgrounds and Cabins the Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park, the Yellowstone Holiday RV Campground & Marina and the Madison Arm Resort & Marina.
In Fort Peck is the Rock Creek Marina where you will find 10
tent sites, 20 RV sites, cabins, showers, boat slips and
a store. Area attractions include Ft. Peck Summer Theatre
with its musicals and dramas, the Powerhouse Museum and
Ft. Peck Paleontology, Inc. and Dinosaur Field Station,
and the Ft. Peck Dam and Reservoir which is home to 50 different
kinds of fish, six recreation areas and the Beaver Creek
Nature Trail.
The Native Ways Primitive Campground in Billings is situated on 25 acres and has 4 tepees, hiking trails, and plenty of privacy. In Fort Smith, you will find Cottonwood Camp and its 25 tent sites and 15 RV sties. While there you can enlist a fly fishing guide, rent a boat or use the shuttle service. There are also cabins with kitchenettes. The Camp is convenient to Bighorn National Recreation Area and the boat launch at Afterbay on the Bighorn River, which is known for its incredible trout fishing.
